Five Notes... Infinite Possibilities
The Way:
-
a method, style, or manner of doing something.
-
a road, track, path, or street for traveling along.
-
in harmony with, and in accordance to the natural flow or cosmic structural order of the universe.

What is The Pentatonic Way?
Are you interested in learning an approach to confidently improvise over any chord progression? If the answer is yes, The Pentatonic Way is for you.
By combining common chord shapes with their pentatonic counterparts, you’ll be able to create great sounding guitar licks, anywhere on the neck, in real time.
It is your way of understanding the inner workings of the guitar neck using the major & minor pentatonic scales.

-
Create licks with a natural sounding character as you sync the pentatonic scale up to nearly any chord progression
-
Effortlessly create complex phrases by switching between pentatonic scales
-
Break the Modes into their pentatonic components and unlock their modal sounds
What can you expect to learn with the pentatonic way?

Why The Pentatonic Scale?
Because the pentatonic scale is so easy for our brains and ears to grab hold of (as well as our fingers). Check out this video of Bobby McFerrin using the five note pentatonic scale to literally "play" the audience like an instrument: go ahead, I'll wait.
How Awesome Was That?!!
Now imagine you could use that same power over any chord progression you wanted to solo over! You would be able to anticipate the notes you are going to play BEFORE you play them.

That is the power of the pentatonic scale and the freedom to improvise without fear.

How Do You Solo Now?
If you are anything like I used to be, you'll find a place on the neck to play the minor pentatonic scale, or maybe a seven note scale, and noodle around within it. If something sounds good, maybe you'll repeat it a couple of times. As long as you keep playing it all sounds pretty good (more or less).

When you stop playing though, you'd better land on a good note, or it will take away all the awesomeness you've been building up to.

Would you rather end your solo like the dog,
or like the gymnast?

I spent decades trying to get better at guessing which notes to end on...It never happened.I needed a system.
